When the human eye views the world, it is rare that we ever see pure white and pure black. We are capable of seeing a range of tones all at once because the human eye is an amazing thing. Because of this, it’s rare that we ever truly view anything in silhouette.
Our cameras, on the other hand, do not operate like the human eye and can only work with one exposure at a time. Because of this, it’s very likely that you can capture pure whites and pure blacks.
For this contest, focus on capturing a silhouette. Focus on capturing with your camera what your human eye cannot easily see on its own. Your goal is to have a photo that astounds the mind because of this, and is aesthetically pleasing nonetheless.
Rules:
-The image must be created for this contest, and must be your own work.
-You may submit a single image only.
-Minor photographic retouching is allowed, heavy manipulation is not.
-One entry per person.
-Once you’ve entered, you CANNOT edit your post for any reason! If you make a mistake, please PM an administrator to fix it for you. This way we can make sure no one cheats.
Deadline: August 25th 2010 at 11:59pm EST (that’s GMT -5. In California, or PST, it’d be 8:59pm, and in England it’d be 4:59am)
