Why Leap Year? What it is?

Hi to all,
Here is a general discussion about leap year...
Did anybody know what is a leap year is and why this concept has arises? Anybody who knows can answer in this thread... All are welcome...

To allow exactly the same lengths between the equinoxes in two subsequent years. Because 4 years take almost exactly 1461 days.
Rather than adjusting 6 hours into each year, which would upset the customary time of day, we add one day every 4th year. So I guess that’s why we have leap year.
