Some of you may know that I'm really into video games, Halo 3 especially. I play it competitively and travel the country sometimes to compete in Major League Gaming tournaments. If you're in a top 8 team in MLG you can expect to make enough from playing the game to make a living...doing nothing but playing. Anyways where does photography tie into this? I recently attended the MLG tournament up in Columbus Ohio and I caught up with the guy in charge of event photography and social media for MLG. I introduced myself to him and talked about photography and all the stuff I've done over the years. After our conversation I asked him if they were ever hiring people to come help shoot events. He said I seemed pretty cool and had alot of experience so he gave me his personal email to send him some of my work and talk about possibly coming on board to help with photography. I sent him my dA account and also uploaded some of my better pictures I've taken at various events over the years for him to take a look at. He got back to me yesterday and he said we would be in contact about me going to Raleigh, North Carolina and Denver, Colorado this year and possibly more events! I'm super psyched right now!

Ok so here's the latest news on the photography gig.
MLG is basically letting me try out to join the team. I am going to Raleigh and they are going to provide me with a list of shots that normal MLG event photographers would take. At the end of the weekend I am to provide them with my best shots and they will review them. If they are satisfactory they will bring me onto the team. Even then Linds, the main photography guy, said that new photographers are only brought on at an event by event basis and there are no guarantees on a permanent spot on the team.
I plan on rocking the shit out of this. This is my next goal in life...to get this job and keep it rolling!

Good luck with that Net! I'm sure you'll do great. And even if it is event-to-event, it's still getting your foot in the door.

for the VERY FINAL SURPRISE, welcome Marian Murdoch to our staff team! I contacted her probably well over a month ago, asking if she wouldn’t join the staff team here on Phototique, and after what must have been some long deliberation, she has decided to take me up on the offer. Actually, she decided before the end of March, but I chose to wait until the beginning of April to release this information and welcome her to the team. So say hello to your newest moderator! She’ll be helping you out with you digital creations
