If it is the quote... it is to keep who and what in perspective when answering.

I think he meant rather than posting another post - modify the previous one and add it to that one. That never shows as a new post though so would be missed if the other person had already read the original post.

No, he's just reminding you of one of the forum rules that asks to try not to double post--meaning, don't post twice in a row if you possibly can. The chatter thread itself is fine though. It's just that we need to keep the double post rule in check to prevent this thread from going from chatter to spam, because sadly there are people out there immature enough to do stupid things like that.

I must have missed that rule in the many rules of the forum.

It's one of the more easily forgotten ones, no worries. It's not a constant thing, so it's no big deal. No one is in trouble or anything. I'm actually really lenient with it because I know it can be a pain to have to modify a post.

Wow... well sometimes... it helps to get people talking.... Especially if they see there is a new post.

If they haven't responded or looked at the thread it will show as new posts regardless.

If they haven't responded or looked at the thread it will show as new posts regardless. You are incorrect in your statement. It only shows as a new post if it has not been looked at - not if it has not been responded to. It is bad protocol on a forum to change the content of a post. You should only modify posts for spelling mistakes.

Most forums these days don't allow double posting, especially PB ones, due to trolls. It's the easiest way to get rid of someone who is only joining to be a problem, because they'll pull the spamming options and such long before the link violations. So the double-posting rule really becomes a safety net to catch and rid a forum of someone who joined just to be a problem. But it's neither here nor there. Chances are if a person looks at a thread and doesn't respond, then they're not going to respond. Anyways though, this thread wasn't made to debate the ethics of double posting. Today at work, I was finally the senior member on duty, and the supervisor, meaning I basically played manager for a while. It was a bit nerve wracking at first, but I fell right into it and had no issues. Pretty good for having only been there five weeks I'd say.

Well done with the responsibility at work.
