This was a very interesting read...I knew camera companies were thinking of bring out point and shoot cameras like this eventually, but I didn't expect it this soon...pretty soon cameras like these may give DSLRs a run for their money....f/2.8?!: LinkSomeone spotted a wild version of Sony’s upcoming EVIL camera, the NEX3, at a pub in Asia recently and anonymous sent the photographs to the blog Sony Alpha Rumors. This comes just a week after an iPhone 4G prototype was found in a California bar, purchased by gadget blog Gizmodo for $5,000, dissected, and published. The photographs show the camera (labeled NEX-3) with a 16mm f/2.8 “pancake” lens, which supposedly has image stabilization built in to make capturing video smoother. They also reveal an external flash mounted to the camera via a proprietary hot shoe system. Both this camera and its sibling, the NEX-5, are expected to have 14-megapixel Sony ExmorHD sensors, though the NEX-5 reportedly boasts HD-video capability, while the NEX-3 will be limited to 720p. Sony’s upcoming cameras are meant to challenge the Micro Four Thirds system cameras made by Panasonic and Olympus, which also feature electronic viewfinders and interchangeable lenses (EVIL). The rumor is that Sony will be announcing these cameras officially on May 11th, and that they will be “aggressively priced” compared to Micro Four Thirds systems. Here’s a tip for those working for companies that make gadgets: leave the prototypes and not-yet-unveiled devices at home when going to drinking establishments.

14 megapixels? According to the rules of microns, it'll be a crap camera. The ratio between megapixels and microns will be so screwed up the photos won't actually look good. Sensor won't be big enough to support them all. I'm not too worried.
But geeze... technology is going insane I guess. D:

I don't see this camera as being a DSLR killer. Until they do something about the physical size of the sensor, DSLRs have nothing to worry about.

we made it through the first month of 2010, and activity has picked up greatly! This month we welcomed many new members, saw a lot of growth in both our community and in people as individuals, and just many wonderful photographs.
As such, with the end of the month, we have new people up in the Showcase! Congratulations to those who made it in, it was a difficult choice in each section. But everyone will probably agree that the photos that were selected are truly some beautiful examples of what a person can do with a camera. Hopefully we’ll see even more of this in the months to come!

In the Community Practice section, Esperanza has been featured with a photograph that truly expresses space around a human being. Having seen previous work from her, this definitely shows that she is improving, and as such she has the honor of being in the Showcase. Congratulations!

I've been at digital photography myself since the summer of 2008, but I have much to learn even now. I myself just purchased an Olympus e-420 and I'm loving it, although seems like with it I've done worse than I was doing with the point-and-shoot! I cannot wait to see your own work, you've had six years' experience so that would be something good!
