Hello everyone! I'm fairly new here, and only know a couple of you. Anyways, my friend told me about a photo contest yesterday, and the winner of it will receive a scholarship. I entered, and there are two days left before voting is closed (this has apparently been up for a while. Too bad I couldn't have found out sooner.) If you all would be so kind as to vote for me, I would really, really appreciate it. No sign-up required, just press a button. :] You start out being ranked at 44,663, and my current rank is 766. I need to get under 150 to qualify. Any reviews given or web sites posted to give me extra points, so if you're feeling extra generous, that would be awesome. But please vote, even if you're not crazy about the picture. It would really help me when I go off to college. www.brickfish.com/Pages/PhotosAlbums/PhotoView.aspx?picid=1172081_33740686&pid=3817679&scid=516Thank you to all who take a look and consider voting! I really appreciate it. :D

You do realize that, if you win, you have given away all rights to this image forever, according to their rules. Also, nowhere in their Rules and Guidelines does it even say what the Scholarship is for. All it say is the winner gets $600 or a scholarship.
I voted for you, but I seriously wonder about this contest.
Edit:
"Customers like Incubus pay Brickfish anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000 per campaign, depending on the number of ideas [photos] that users submit, and the number of times the ideas are viewed, reviewed or voted on. However, the users who generate content, they get paid $0. Unless, of course, they win, and get the prize."

o.o I don't recall reading that part, and I'm definitely wondering about this site now too. My friend was the one who recommended it, but now I don't know what to think. I mean, I'm 17, the most I've made off a photo is $50...would giving up that one be worth $600? And by giving up all rights, what exactly does that even mean?

It means that the photo no longer belongs to you. They can make millions off of it if they so desire, and you can claim nothing. :\

Hm... I guess it does have its pros and cons then. Voting ends today (about 7 hours from now), and I'm currently #412. (I have to be under #150 to count in the competition, so from the looks of it, I won't have to worry about it.) And if by some miracle I do win, I'll just give it more thought before signing anything. :]

Well, by entering you technically signed stuff, since you have to accept the terms and conditions before they allow you to enter. But yes, in the future it's always good to be careful and read before signing in any shape or form.
