So here are a few question for all of you.
Do you prefer your effects directly or though software? and why?
i.e. an 8mm fisheye lenses can be quite costly and the results are limited to what you take. The same affect can be reproduced with software and you have the flexability of doing more to the same photo.
Is a contactsheet containg multiple photos condsidered one shot?
Would the same be true for formultiple photos in the same posting?
Thank you for your time and respones.
I try to get what I intend to show the viewer on my camera the first time. If I can't change something - such as grass where cement is - then I'll use photoshop to adjust that aspect of the photo.
There are times when I'll take a photograph then heavily change the result in photoshop, but that's with so few images, I have two out of a library of ~10,000 photos. Photo Manipulation (and Digital Darkrooming) is a fun thing to do but if not done meticulously, your resultant product will lack. Significantly.
My fisheye was only 300$, and that was for a new lens. I cut the cost by buying a full manual lens - manual focus & aperture. The lens also lacks circuitry, so the camera can't record the focal length (of 8mm) nor the aperture so getting a proper expsure is tricky because my camera believes I'm shooting at F/0.0 but deviantART posts f/1.8 and other sites display f/0.8.
Now;
If you upload a contact sheet, it's considered one photo. But only if you want help picking out a few photos from the bunch. Don't use a contact sheet and ask for a critique on every photo.
Please leave one photo per topic! This will keep things organised - This applies to contact sheets as well. If you have three images of one scene: Say, original, an original with applied edits then a B&W version. That should be fine because we'll be critiquing on photo.
To help aide us, I recommend that any "attachment" photos be smaller than the one you want critiqued. If you want us to critique a B&W copy, then upload the B&W at around 600pixels and any attachments (i.e. original) at like 300 or 400 pixels.
Don't upload an original photo then a slight edit with contrast and colour corrections and a photo manipulation. One, the photo manip is a totally different image to critique and two, we don't specialize in photo manips so don't get into any habit of posting them often. I'll talk with Saknika and see what she thinks about Photo Manips and all the above.
