This is where you post any discussion or questions. Please place all entries in this threadSunrises and sunsets are probably one of the most overdone things in photography, but it’s because they’re beautiful. For this contest, focus on the beauty of the very beginnings and ends of our passing days, and capture it on your camera. Be aware of your surroundings, the colours, and anything else that can help your photo out. Scout a good location, try a few different days, pump the colours up in post—whatever you need to do. But most importantly, have fun! Take your time, and be proud. Rules:-The image must be created for this contest, and must be your own work. -You may submit a single image only, no triptychs this time. -Minor photomanipulation only. You may not destroy the integrity of the original photograph. Basically, if the person wasn’t actually standing there at the time of sunset, you may not photoshop them in. -One entry per person. -Once you’ve entered, you CANNOT edit your post for any reason! If you make a mistake, please PM an administrator to fix it for you. This way we can make sure no one cheats. Deadline: March 31st 2010 at 11:59pm EST (that’s GMT -5. In California, or PST, it’d be 8:59pm, and in England it’d be 4:59am)

Does the sun need to be part of the photograph or can the photo be during that time with the sunset or rise in mind? For example I'm facing north looking at a cityscape but the sun is setting to the west.

So long as the colours are there, you don't actually have to have the sun in the image.

I don't think you can do that can you? Unless I'm reading the rules wrong.

No, it does have to be created for this contest. It's the best way to keep it 100% fair, so that everyone is kind of starting at the same point, so to speak.

Good idea for a contest. Hopefully the rain stops enough for me to get a good one.

I'm waking up Saturday early on and going across the river with my new camera and taking pictures of Cincinnati And if I don't get up in time I can just do the sunset. Next week is spring break so I'll have time.
