Do you think the Canon EOS 350d would be a good camera for a beginner-ish photographer?
I don't have my own camera so this is new to me, but I have used my dad's NIKON D70 various times. So is it any good? :) do you think it would be ok?
Thank you!

This probably won't give you quite as much power as the D70 your father has, but yes, it would be a very good camera to start with if you think you'll be comfortable with it. It's going to give you as much control as you want, and will allow you to try different settings and get a bit more creative than a point-and-shoot might. And I'm guessing this is much more inside of a good budget than some other cameras out there. C:

I have no experience with Canon at all, being a Nikon shooter. One thing to keep in mind though is that you have already mentioned that you dad has a Nikon. If you were to go with a Nikon, you would be able to borrow Nikon items like lenses and flashes with him.
I am sure that you could find some amazing deals on used D70's out there. I would even look around at the used D40's as they are amazingly good cameras. I had one for travel for a couple years and was very happy with it.
