OK, I found some red glitter and had a groovy idea, but realized I had no idea how to know this out...
What I want to do is to kind of cover myself, or my "models", in red glitter, but I would like to use B+W. However, I want to keep the glitter red. I'm sure only digital photo-manipulation would help. The question is, how do I go about doing this?

I know how to do this using photoshop, but I'm not sure how to do it in other programs. I'm sure it's a similar process. First you want to add the B&W layer on top of your image and add a mask to it (in PS the mask is already there) Change your color to black and use your brush tool to erase the B&W effect from the layer. Again I don't know how to do it in other programs, but I hope with that explanation you get a general idea on how to do it. www.picturecorrect.com/tips/color-areas-black-white-photos/ Here is a visual aid.

If I may make a suggestion.
While your idea sounds like it could make a great image, can I suggest that you spend some time mastering your camera more before you start jumping into more complex post processing projects?
I know that you are new to photography, and I am a believer that you need to really know your gear, and know the mechanics of making a good image before you take on other things.

I'm with Scott on this one. If you learn the post-processing first, you're likely to rely on that so much that you never truly come to understand your camera and your images could suffer because of it.
I'd write the idea down in a little book and save it for when you're truly ready. You'll thank yourself for it in the long run.

Yeah, I don't plan to try this for a while because of my teeth, so I would have plenty of time just to practice taking pictures. =)
Thanks for the tutorial, though. I'm a fast learner and I like a challenge, too, so, lol.
