I want to know what you guys think on this one. Instead of getting tickets that only allow you a free ride in the Critique section, would you be interested in earning points that will be kept on your mini-profile that you can spend on multiple things?
Some of these things would be: -Free rides in Critique -Custom Titles (Like where it says Founder for myself) -Personal thread promotion (make your thread an announcement for a short time) -Custom Emoticon for all to use (within TOS and forum policy, also nothing too over-sized)
I'm also interested in hearing what sort of things would interest you guys for point prizes, if you like this idea. I'll consider them all, but some may or may not be feasible, like buying your way onto the staff. LOL
And no worries, any tickets you already have would be converted over to points for your use if we go through with this.
Questions, comments, concerns?

I am always of the mind that the fewer things people need to know before posting, the better. Members may initially think, "oh, cool, I have points" but after being a member for a while, it becomes tedious to have to watch points to see if you have a free ride or not. Anyone willing to learn and improve their craft will be here and will post whether you have these things or not. Serious photogs only care about logging in and seeing what they can learn from others and what they can teach someone else. They're not interested in custom titles, emoticons, etc.
Personally, I think the "you must reply to someone else's work before posting" is a double-edged sword. Someone may want to post a photo but not have time to come up with a critique of someone else's work, and decide, "meh... I'll just not post today," thus depriving us of their work and a learning opportunity.
But, that might be just me, haha.

Yeah, it was a toss-up when I was creating the guidelines, but I decided that was for the best because I remember on SSD people would just create threads, and almost never comment anyone else. There were six or seven photogs on there before it closed, and three of us would comment on others. Hence why I decided the give-to-receive policy was a good idea. Mostly though, it's just to make sure people are commenting too. I don't keep an exact count (and I'm sure no one else does either), but because I make a point to try and comment everything I can generally tell if the person who posted a photo, or a massive amount of threads of photos, if they've been commenting or not. And, it helps give some incentive for the contests to have that ticket, since I can't give cash or something.

Also, in due time you'll critique more photos than you post.

Unfortunately, right now, I'm finding that I can't post anything because there are no other photos for me to critique.

If there's nothing else to critique, then go ahead and post away. I can't hold something like that against anyone.

I think points would work better than tickets. When I was a member on the old Lounge (not welounge), they had points for rewards, and it was an inspiration for me to post, and to help others. By the end of the first week, I had already made over 600 posts and had around 200 points. I was in first place for a while, and then the place died out, because the new owner decided to ban me simply because he didn't like me, but back to this!
Points could be traded in for - custom title; "popular member", with the announced thread, like you said; a picture of theirs being on the main page, or website for a day to a week; a link to their website or work, if applicable, being on the main page here. I'm sure there can be more rewards but I don't "overthink", lol.

Well I'd never give points out for posting a lot. LOL They'd simply be for having won something, to replace the tickets.
