How about a section in the Gallery for members to post a small portfolio of their work? Not for critique, but as a sample of the best photos someone's taken. Photos posted in the critique section are ones that we're not sure about, that we want advice on. But there's really no place for everyone to show off the images they're confident in.
Well, there's the list of personal websites, but not everyone can maintain their own site, and I think it would be easier to just browse through a forum page than to click on a dozen different links and explore a dozen different sites.

I like the idea, but I'm afraid that there would be members who abused it, and instead of trying to get feedback just posted all their images in their portfolio area.
When it comes to the personal sites, there are things like Flickr, DA, and personal websites; and the option to list them as your home page in your profile. So it's not as hard as one thinks to find them.

Yeah, there could be some people who might abuse it, but the majority of the people here are serious about photography and will respect the rules you put into place. And if somone comes along who doesn't respect them, just delete their posts or ban them or something.
You could limit the amount of photos in each portfolio to 10, for example, and then if someone posts an 11th one, just delete it.

I like the idea. The portfolio images would have to be related and with an artist statement, perhaps link images to their critique counter parts?
I say "with an artist statement" because I've seen portfolios without any introduction and I have no idea why this collection of photographs is special and/or why I am looking at these.

I'm with Saknika. There are plenty of places that you can put a portfolio up whether it be dA, Flickr, or whatever. Just add the links in your sig and you'll be golden.
I do however think it would be a great idea if we were ever to get an actual website.
