So, if we had a website for this forum, what would you guys like to see be a part of it? I'm open to all suggestions, but please keep them reasonable. Also, when we do go ahead and build the website, I am going to need some competent coders and designers to work alongside me on this project. So if that's you, please let me know! The things I cannot/will not have on it are: -Personal member galleries (too much space) I'll add to that list as things come up.  So, let's here them! What would you guys want? |

Tutorials using step by step user control; the viewer can click on a button to go to the next step instead of haveing to be ready to pause or rewind using movies.
Flash or PowerPoint could be used for example and can be downloaded for viewing offline. If people do not have PowerPoint installed there is a free viewer available that will make the show work.
Flash can be published as projector made available for downloaded for viewing offline if the author/reator of the tutorial allows it in this format - the projector temporarily installs flash player to view the movie; also give the option of it being viewed on the site using the swf files. This method is fully transportable as well. Downside is the projector can be rather large taking up server space.
I would alos like to see the two click rule ~ click two links and you are where you want to be within the site. Some sites have lots of links accross the top and down the side etc, this can also help to map out the site. Some think it is just clutter and needed but to stay with the two click rule for ease of navigation this becomes neccessary as a site grows.

This is probably a stupid question, but why do we need a web site for the forums? All information that members might want to share with each other could be put here, couldn't it?

Enigma- I like the flash idea, but I don't know how to work it, so I'd need some serious help with that; if we were to use it.
Accebera- That's a legitimate question. The website would be for two things. The first, is I'd like to be able to sell adspace to companies or people who would want to advertise on it, so that:
A) It'd pay for the hosting
B) It'd pay for SEO
C) Contests could possibly have cash prizes
I also want to use it as a way to turn around and promote this forum, so that more people see it.
The website is still not a 100% surefire idea though.

I think the website would only work if the forum was tightly integrated into the website. And since our forums are hosted elsewhere, any chance of site wide promotion is ruined.
I can see Saknika getting tired of posting redundant things on both the forum and web site. If the two were intergrated she'd only have to post once and it'd be available.
I say we stick to only forums unless we have any desire to get a dedicated domain and integrate a new forum into our website.
