Would it be possible to produce a basic check (Set of rules) list to go over before taking a shot of a given theme for total novices like myself???
e.g.
What would you need to take into account for: - 1) Portate shots 2) Still life 3) Creatures/wild life. 4) Textures 5) Scenic
And so on

You mean to get it right? Like step-by-step instructions?

You mean to get it right? Like step-by-step instructions? Indeed, like how you'd setup a portrait shot, still life, etc, for complete beginners.

Things like make sure you do not have shadows on a subject that will spoil the shot if it is textures. If there is a bright sky (Cloud that is bouncing back light into the lense) and the sun is behind you but you can't avoid the brighyt sky/cloud ~ how would you compensate for that? I think an example of this is my entry in the landscape theme.
I think this should be brain stormed ( or Thought showered to be politicaly correct lol) by admin; it does not need to be in great detail, just a basic bible/rule check list to help set up the initial shot. The critique board would serve to enhance any other details that may need encorporating into the process of that particular subject, but if there is a foundation process to begin with, I feel it will be easier to remember other criteria from the critique. This might also encourage more novices to have a go if they feel they are at least getting somewhere with a kick-start. This whole thing may take some time but just start with one subject through to completion and then go on to the next.
Hope this makes sense
Regards Ian

Saknika .. Ok thank you .. anything to help would be great and appreciated.
papsta ...
Unfortunately I do not have the budget for any sort of course, I can't even run to an expensive camera; I have to make do and try with my Casio Exilim EX-1000.
Thanx for the input though, I am sure somebody may be able to benefit from it.
