Hi all ...
I have noticed that some members use the PNG format; is this going to be allowed for any comps or will the format be stated in the comp rules?
What's your view on this?

PNG is fine to use if you want to, but JPEG is generally better for photographs. PNGs were built for graphics to make them load faster and preserve more of their details. JPEGs do the same for photographs. But it's just a file format, so it's no big deal if someone prefers one over the other. However, if I'm questioning whether or not it's actually a photo, and it's a PNG and not a JPEG, I'm gonna swing towards it not being a photo.

Personally, I prefer the JPEG format because it stores EXIF and I can take a peak at someone EXIF data through a firefox extension.

Does'nt PNG hold more colour/color info than jpeg and have the advantage over quality?

It does from a graphical sense of things. Photography wise, JPEGs do the same thing.
