So, as most of you know, I'm a horse fanatic, and this past year I have been doing a lot of English riding on top of my photography. Unfortunately, my trainer moved to Portland a few months ago when the economy started doing its work on the barn and her income. This, of course, put a fairly abrupt halt on my English riding "career" since I can't afford lessons or to lease a horse that is good enough to help me advance without a trainer.
Shortly after she left, though, one of the girls I'd met while riding and photographing told me her parents were buying a barn about 15 minutes away from where I live now which had been foreclosed on. It was a huge mess and would need some serious work done before it could be opened. However, when it did open, they were going to want someone to stay in the house that is on the property and work as the manager... and apparently I was the best candidate for the job, without even having to fill out an application.
Of course there was no way I could turn down the offer. So, in about two weeks I am going to be moving into said house and starting work as the manager. Granted, it's not the most glorious job in the world, cleaning stalls, turning horses out, feeding, and for now there won't be many horses on the property which means they won't be able to pay me a whole heck of a lot until things get going... but I've been wanting to work with horses since I was born pretty much, and I'm a simple sort of person who doesn't need a lot to live on. I don't have to pay utilities or anything like that so my expenses are fairly minimal.
Anyway, all this goes to say I am so insanely excited and I hope that living on horse property will give me lots more opportunities for some "free ranging" pictures and the like. It will be nice to be able to move out of my parents' place but not be so far away that I can't call them if I need something.
This is the house I will be living in, mostly by my self.
