The theme of this contest is Landscape Photography. For this, you need to take a photo of some sort of naturally occurring landscape, or a landscape that is man-made. What do I mean by man-made? I’m talking about things like cities, complex highway systems, ect. So long as it’s some sort of landscape, it qualifies. This does include the cityscape, of course. Rules:-One entry per person -No triptychs -Must be a new image created for this contest -Must be your own work -Do NOT edit your post once it has been created. If you screw up the coding or something, please PM AN ADMINISTRATOR. We will fix it for you, thus ensuring that the contest is completely fair. Please be sure to post your entries in the Entries Thread, where the rules will be posted once more, along with judging criteria. This thread is for discussion and questions only. The contest will run from now until August 31st at 11:59pm EST. Good luck!

Oh, man. I'd enter with one of the landscapes I shot in Alaska a few weeks ago, but, obviously, they weren't taken for this contest.
Now I'll have to find something in my boring old city. At least it'll be challenging.

-Creativite Choice 25pts How creative you were in choosing a location -Technical Skill 10pts How well you lit and focused the shot -Composition 15pts How well your composition is -Use of colour/b+w/ect 25pts How well you used the colour or lack-there-or in your shot
Enigmarose Creative: 25 Technical: 7 Composition: 10 Colour: 20 Total: 62/75
Comments: This is a beautiful shot. It's crisp and clear, and the reflection on the water is gorgeous. However, the plants in the front are a distraction, and this could use a bit more contrast, and a lot less white in the sky.
Wyldeflower Creative: 23 Technical: 8 Composition: 10 Colour: 20 Total: 61/75
Comments: At first glance this is a very nice image, but upon looking at it more one can see a few things that aren't so agreeable. The tilted horizon seems off, as if the camera wasn't held very straight, and that it wasn't corrected later on with a crop and straightening tool. The sky could use some clouds, but is okay as it is as well. The fact that you have some flowers in the image is nice, but an even lower angle would have benefited this image, or a higher one. Where it is now, they're borderlining on distraction. When it comes to composition, having the other tree in the background helps, and the fact that both threes are off-centre is good; but unfortunately that tilt and the lack of uniformity between the photo edge to tree edge is messing it up some.
~Hero~ Creative: 25 Technical: 6 Composition: 14 Colour: 18 Total: 63/75
Comments: This was a very creative idea! Using a waterscape with a boat on it definitely was taking the theme and making it your own. Unfortunately, it feels too dark, as if the exposure could be brought up a bit. The composition is really good as well, but being able to see a bit more water behind the boat would benefit it a bit. This is probably because of the exposure thing, but the colours also feel very muddy, and detract a bit from the image. If they were more vibrant, or perhaps better exposed, they would probably work better in here.
Papsta Creative: 20 Technical: 10 Composition: 12 Colour: 20 Total: 62/75
Comments: From a technical standpoint, this is a very sound image. There are no lines to suggest where this was stitched together, and the exposure is well done throughout the whole thing. Having done a panorama also was very creative, and definitely a big challenge. However, due to a lack of something generally eye-catching to add interest, it doesn't feel like you went far enough, nor composed the image as well. Perhaps if you had gone at a different time of day when the lighting would be more dramatic and add to it, or if there had been animals in the shot, this would be just that much better of an image. The colours in this could also stand to be a bit more dramatic and vibrant to help it out as well, or some clouds in the sky.
NickGrayOMG Creative: 23 Technical: 7 Composition: 7 Colour: 25 Total: 62/75
Comments: The colouring really stands out in this image. It's vibrant and lively, and adds something wonderful to it. There are also some very good lines leading back to the trees, and they are probably the best compositional element in this. Unfortunately, this image feels cramped as a vertical. There are also some exposure problems in that the shadow on the trees is just a tad too dark, because it appears to be pure black. You could enhance the value of this photograph, and add a flair of creativity to it, by dropping your angle on it, and really using those lines to their max. It would probably also be beneficial to use a horizontal crop with it as well.
