I'd like to offer a big congratulations to Scott Wood and Midnight Mystery as our first Showcase features! Scott Wood has the honor of having his photograph of lighting chosen as the best we saw in the critique, and is the very first Photo of the Month here on Phototique. Midnight Mystery showed some real zeal in learning, as we saw when she recognized using lines in her photographs as a helpful element for the first time. As such, she is rewarded with the first ever spotlight in the Community Practice section of the Showcase. ;D
Sadly, we do not have a contest winner to feature, because there were no entries. A new contest has been started however, and that slot will be up for grabs at the end of August!
We also had no photography entered into the first weekly theme, so a new one has been started and one lucky image from that will be selected to be showcased in 24hrs! This thread will be updated with a congratulations to whomever that is!
To all you lucky winners, you will be PMed a ticket that you can use once in a thread you create in the critique section, and this ticket will enable you to post without commenting on someone first. It's a nice perk for having earned your spot on the front page.
If you'd like to see the images full size, you can click on the section titles, they're linked!
Want that free ticket? Then get photographing! We always have four ways to be featured here on Phototique. You have the Community Practices, Weekly Themes, Contests, and the Critique section is where we choose our Photo of the Month from. I can't wait to see what I have to select from in the coming weeks and next month! ;D
EDIT: THE WEEKLY THEME.
Since it was both myself and another staff member that were the only entries (), I asked Artemis to be the judge this time in order to keep it fair. Here is what he has to say:
Saknika's photo was simple, yet organized and focused, and I liked the meaning that one could derive from her imagery combined with the colour itself.
From the two, I have chosen Saknika's photo, though both were very good entries.

Both were pretty good photos. Comic's had a nice placement of the colour, the only things that irked me being the amount of content in the photo, it seemed a bit crowded, and at first I wasn't exactly sure what I was supposed to be looking at.Saknika's photo was simple, yet organized and focused, and I liked the meaning that one could derive from her imagery combined with the colour itself.
