I’d like to start off by once again apologizing for how late I was in making the switch from the February Showcase to the March Showcase. Life really came to bite me in the butt, and I just didn’t have time to sit down and make the changes until now. I hope everyone can understand.
That said, we have some great new things to announce as we come into April!
As everyone knows, the end of March concluded our FIRST EVER Community Project! It is being left open until the end of Easter Sunday due to some requests and my own tardiness in everything, so if you still want in you have just over 24hrs to do so! Remember, these are going onto our website! There’s some great imagery in there already, so please don’t be afraid to add yours to the mix as well.
We’re also starting our second Community Project this month—and this time the community has decided on Black and White for the theme. So start thinking in monotone grays, because that’s what you’re going to have to use for this project!
I’d like to offer congratulations to all our Weekly Theme winners this past month as well! There was some great creativity shown, and I can’t wait to see more this coming month; especially since we’re into warmer weather!
This month I feel it’s also necessary to point out that Lauren MKS worked very hard and greatly deserves the feature she has earned in the Showcase for the Portraiture Community Practice. She kept trying, kept sharing imagery, and wanted to improve. That’s what the Community Practice is for, and this is what we’d like to see when it comes to them. The harder you work, the more likely you are to really earn your spot in the Showcase. Remember, Community Practices aren’t about being the best, they’re about working hard and improving the most in the area covered. So congratulations Lauren on a well-deserved spotlight!
A big congratulations as well to our contest winner, Net! It was a close contest, incredibly close in fact! Everyone was within points of each other and it came down to a difference of one point for Net to take the Showcase spot and the win. I certainly hope that we see just as close a contest for this month as well!
And last, but not least, congratulations to Zulu, a new member whose technical and creative excellence has earned him the Photo of the Month spot in our Showcase. So be sure to head on over to Critique and see his spectacular image.
Now, for the VERY FINAL SURPRISE, welcome Marian Murdoch to our staff team! I contacted her probably well over a month ago, asking if she wouldn’t join the staff team here on Phototique, and after what must have been some long deliberation, she has decided to take me up on the offer. Actually, she decided before the end of March, but I chose to wait until the beginning of April to release this information and welcome her to the team. So say hello to your newest moderator! She’ll be helping you out with you digital creations, and working with us in Critique as well. Marian has a lot of knowledge that she’s willing to share, if you’re just willing to listen. So ears open and pencils out! It’s fun time!
Well done everyone, and welcome Marian! Let’s look forward to fantastic April!
