It's amazing what bumping up contrast and graduated filters can do to a picture. Original: Hate the crop on this... but it's on the other computer so I can't fix it Edited: This was part of an experimental assignment for a photography class I took in the fall of 2008. We had to come up with something themed to the "light at the end of the tunnel"

I agree that it definitely needed more contrast, but I'm not too fond of the huge chunks of black, and it still didn't do anything for a very over-exposed sun; except to really force all your attention there. I'm really not too sure how I feel about the shot itself, but I do feel that a vignette would be far better than just adding masses of black at the side.

While the edit is better, I would like to see you turn the opacity of the grad filter/contrast down some, it is just a little too much. The lens flare is also very distracting to me, I would like to see it gone, but the biggest problem for me is the horizon being in the middle of the frame.

The edited one is better than the original, as the sun in the original one is very bright. However, all that black around edges is a bit distracting, and so is the red flare. You could use less black or simply use a field of depth on the island and the sun, try to get people to notice these firsthand.

Esperanza, may I play with your image to demonstrate something? (I still think we should have a place in our profile to say whether it is okay to play with our images or not. It certainly would save back and forth time)
