There are a lot of different textures in this image. A lot. And they really help make it look better, however they aren't the focus. I'm not saying it's a bad photo, but it doesn't utilize texture as a major strength of the image which is essentially what we're looking for. Could you go back, and try getting closer to the trees and the rocks, showing the contrast between the smoother rocks and the pine trees?

I do usualy use the Unsharp Mask, the Smart Sharpen is a new feature to me and after it was used I liked what I saw; I wanted the whole image to be crisp. I do use the sharpen brush to make parts of and image stand out making the main focal are of an image more promenent to draw you in on that area. If I come across the same conditions again I will try and stand between the subject and the sun, or get someone to stand in place. Well that's my theory anyway lol.

Very nice macro image. The wood texture looks great, as does the smoothness of the paint. A bit better focus would really enhance these textures. What I'm talking about, is that there are some pencils near the front that are out of focus, and thus they kind of ruin the effect of the photo. Try again so that more is in focus and thus more texture is revealed.
So now everyone, you've seen all the critiques and feedback left. Your final task is to try again, and to use what you've learned to create an even better image that uses texture to its maximum.

It does not have to be in b+w, it's simply a suggestion since you notice texture more when there is no colour.
This however is BEAUTIFUL. Simple, but full of texture, great exposure, great focus, and wonderful leading lines. Well done! You have definitely learned something.

Thanks Saknika, success at last lol ~ well I am getting there. The funny thing is I was taking snaps of something completely different that I had my eye on today in my back garden but other obects were in the way and spoit the shots. I then realised that the garage had loads of texture and would you beleive it ~ Lines as well lol; so killed two birds with one stone ;D. I had taken a few shots from the same angle but the conditions today with the sun breaking through the clouds and dissapearing again made such a vast difference to the shot; I must have deleted at least 6 shots; goes to show ~ be patient and wait. I realy like the macro shots and trying to get a perspective view in it as well.
