Word of mouth is great for getting new members, more activity, and keeping the fun alive for everyone here on Phototique. As such, we need you, the members, to tell everyone you know about this place! And now, we're going to offer you some great incentive! It's expensive to get things at the Points Store, and there aren't that many ways to earn points. That's about to change though! From now on, for every person you refer who becomes active (meaning they make at least ten real posts with one of them in The Gallery section) you will get 5 points! Those will really add up after a while, so spread the word! And not only do you get 5 points, but so will your friend! Just have them post on this thread and say that you sent them, that way you can get your points. Happy referring everyone!

Your work gets displayed on the front page of this forum until the end of another contest, and it will be noted in your member info. You will also receive a special ticket with a number on it that allows you to post a thread in the Critique section without first making a comment. This ticket can only be used once, however.

you bracket your shots, taking at least three shots with different exposure values. You need a tripod to do this, as you don't want any motion at all, because you'll be combining the photos together. Any shake and you'll have a blurry image. The more images you acquire, the better. Most DSLRs will let you acquire at least 3, though some will do 5 or more. Using a program, you then tell it which images you want to use and it will give you a good starting point. Most times, you have to tweak it, and that's where the frustration, experimentation, and exultation come in. HDR, when done correctly, will give an image a higher range of tonality, more like what we see with our own eyes.

there are some things that aren't changing. They are: 1. I won't be putting a mass of categories on the front page to replace the Critique section. I however am not adverse to sub-boards. I know there are those of you who don't like sub-boards, but I really don't want a ton of boards on the front page. 2. The guidelines on needing to be an active commenter will stand, because it's the only way I can ensure that things remain fair in the critique board. Until we've grown to the point that there are two or three mods who will ensure that everyone gets comments, I don't want to lift this. I've been on boards where certain people get a ton of reviews of their work because it's beautiful, but they never comment on other pieces; meanwhile others are left in the dust and are commenting on others anyways--it's upsetting, and I don't want that here.

As everyone knows, the end of March concluded our FIRST EVER Community Project! It is being left open until the end of Easter Sunday due to some requests and my own tardiness in everything, so if you still want in you have just over 24hrs to do so! Remember, these are going onto our website! There’s some great imagery in there already, so please don’t be afraid to add yours to the mix as well.

It was very laid back with people going back and forth with lighting and other equipment. People here and there would move cars into different positions. I got in on the action as well. This went on for a few hours until the sunset came…that’s where the fun began. It had been raining most of the day and the sky was beyond amazing with the clouds. At this point it was only myself and my buddy. Everyone else went to the shop to pick up and drop off cars. So we had a sunset that was fading, only 2 people, and 5 different cars to move around at this point….I have never run around so much while I was doing photography!!! With my D300s, a huge light or driving cars around it became very exhausting.

Connections are important as artists, and in here you will find a directory listing (of those who wish to be listed) that shows where we all live. No addresses, just a general area. People will be listed by state for the US, and by country for everything else unless someone tells me something more specific.
To be added to this list, please PM myself with your general location.
What are these for? Mostly so you can find a photo buddy if you want, or to discuss where local jobs may be. If you should need a second shooter for something, this could also be handy. There are plenty of reasons why this could be a good asset to you.
Also, if you change your display name, let me know. I will try to update this listing as you do, but I promise nothing if you change your name like you do your underwear
