This week's theme is: Heart
This week the prompt is a shape or object. How can you use it in a photograph? When you hear this word, what comes to mind?
Some Ideas:
-Use the actual shape
-Conceptual idea
-Still Life
You don't have to use those ideas, those are simply to help any who may be struggling with this theme.
Please also feel free to ask any and all questions here, and discuss the entries. However, please do not quote the images.
THE WINNER
Congratulations to Marian! There were a lot of great entries this time, and I honestly had a difficult time making the choice. Some of it came down to the actual creativity, and some of it had to do with rules, which I'd like to take a moment to speak on.
The original image that I was looking at to feature was by Lauren, because it's very creative in that it's a concept, and not a shape. However, she did say that it was not taken for this theme, and while that won't disqualify you, it does put you more in a back seat to those who took photos for the particular theme. So when it came to narrowing it down between my three choices, it was the first to go because of that.
The second thing I want to mention, and it was brought to my attention by a few people, is that taking a photo of someone else's artwork is not a good idea. It's borderline copyright infringement, and it doesn't hold any creative merit in the sense we're looking for as artistic photographers, and not copy-creators. So I'd just like it noted from here on out, a new precedence has been set, and photos of one piece of artwork will no longer be allowed. It's one thing if the artwork is a non-prominent prop in a background (like a picture on a wall) near your main subject, but the artwork cannot be the subject itself.
That said, I will now get off my virtual soapbox and conclude this Weekly Theme with this: Congrats to our featured piece, and good luck to everyone next week!
