When it comes to your house, what kind of area do you live in? Is it a city, or suburb, or more rural? How would you describe it? And do you enjoy living there, or do you dream of something else? I live in the middle of nowhere. Seriously, it's pretty close. I'm right in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in NY, and there are more trees than houses out here. It's great. Half my "roads" you can't travel completely by vehicle. I love it out here and I wouldn't change it for the world. I plan on staying here my entire life. Cities just aren't my thing.

I live in a New Suburban area, 19 years old in the oldest parts, between two busy roads. Despire the location the neighbourhood is fairly quiet. There's a gorgeous park behind my house so I don't have to deal with backyard neighbours. Anything I need is a 5 or less minute walk away - except for most of my friends. I am currently living in a Semi-rural location. It's been urbanized with houses and a few stores here and there but nothing like a suburban community This is why I love Maine and why I'd like to live up here

Yeah, mine is a new suburb. XD I hate it/love it. I love being able to go only a little ways to get what I need. I hate not seeing further than the house next door. I would LOVE to live in the country. I mean, we live close enough to drive 15 minutes and be lost in the country side, and another 15 minute ride the other way and be stuck in a large city.
I was actually talking with my boyfriend about it today. If he and I ever got married, we'd move somewhere where there would be land. We want to have a blacksmith area, a place where I can put a kiln, and other stuff... o-o;;; I have such weird tastes. I want a room to do book binding, a dark room, and other little things like that. I love that sort of stuff and here we couldn't do it. So definitely love the country, because I've had the best of all THREE worlds. Living in the middle of the city, rural like suburbs, and country. :3

ROFL, I don't know how all you suburban folks can live with neighbors that close.

My neighbours are about about eight feet away from me on one side (four-foot side yards) and the house on the other side of me has never been built so that's kinda nice.
The four three-year old houses at the front of the street don't even have back yards and share two drive ways. I could never live like that.

I can't live in the way you described.

I live in the suburbs, quiet little tree-lined town not far from Los Angeles, maybe an hour or two. It's a lovely area, close to the mountains, close to the beach, close to anything you can think of. xD I'd love to stay here, but unfortunately, I can't.

I've lived in the country my entire life. I grew up on a small farm. Now I still live in the country on a dirt road about 10-15 minutes from our town. I like to affectionately call it living in the 'boonies'. hehe We've lived here for over 20 years now. I love it and can't imagine living anywhere else. We have five acres. Four of which is field and forest. We have cut trails into the field and often take walks just before sundown. A wide variety of wildlife enjoy our land along with us. My husband has a tree stand on the back of the property and took a doe out of there during the antlerless season a couple years ago. Across the road is a paint horse ranch. Otherwise on either side of us we're surrounded by field and forest. It's very quiet and peaceful. With the exception of the horse ranch, our closet neighbor lives about 1/2 mile down the road.

I envy you Kara, that sounds like a wonderful place to live. You might want to try using the tree stand yourself to try to get photos of deer. I know if I had the opportunity, I would.
