Is there anything that you guys would like to see on this forum? I'm taking all suggestions, but make no promises that they will be enacted. But all ideas will (probably) be considered! Just keep them reasonable.  |

Unless you'd rather keep this forum purely for mostly untouched photographs, I think a board dedicated to Manips would be nice to have. I love playing around in Photoshop CS2 and learning new techniques that way.

If you look under the Critique section, there is a subboard called the Digital Darkroom that is for manipulations. |

How about a better incentive to post photographs?
No matter how small the prize, you would get a lot more entries.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. It'll be hard to come up with a system that will reward you. For now, take pictures regarding the weekly themes & contests if you want some incentive  We do have one system in place: Photo of the Month, Where any photo posted for critique is eligible to be chosen. |

The incentive thus far is a ticket, which you should have one Papsta, that entitles you to a free thread in the critique area without having to comment on someone else's thread first. Your photo is also displayed for a specific duration on the main page. Eventually I'd like to set up a paid system of some sort, but that's definitely much further down the line.

I appreciate that you do believe it's a good idea. That's a start. I do not however think it's hard at all to come up with something really cool and affordable to reward someone's time and effort. Even if it is just a print or postcard of their winning photo. It is something worth considering especially if you want to build a higher participant or entrant rate. Photo of the month is a good idea but the reward is a temporary thing and the photographer has nothing tangeable to remember his triumph. What I'm trying to say is if you reward your winners you will get more people trying to win and that will increase the entrants and the level of competition. It would definitely be worth your while to spend some time coming up with an idea that your 'togs' will find interesting and worthwhile. If you still can't come up with something, ask your members. I'm sure once you've ruled out the loonies there may actually be something viable. Thanks for listening. |
